For my final project in Stage Makeup I the character that I have created is a bulldog named Chunky. Chunky was born in a world called Bulldog Land. This is a place dedicated to bulldogs. It is like earth with less violence and less hate. The bulldogs have human like features such as anger, jealousy, love, happiness, and sadness. Chunky’s parents are named Daisy and Mr. Wrinkles. I have created these names because these are the names I want to name my bulldogs in real life. Chunky’s parents met in bulldog dance camp where they fell in love got married and had Chunky. Chunky has one birth mark that is in the shape of grapes and is blue. He has this because when Daisy was pregnant with Chunky she ate food that was in the shape of a circle all clumped together from outer space and in space all food is blue. Chunky’s fur is a mix between his mom and his dad. Daisy is white with a few spots and Mr. Wrinkles is your typical brown and white Bulldog. While creating Chunky I thought what techniques I would use for example I will use the shading technique taught in class and by the book. I will use this because I need to create the sensation of the wrinkles. I will be using altered form, hidden eye brows, original latex appliance.
The first thing I did was I made a line elevation. then I drew the 2d elevation then the 3d elevation of the prosthetics I am going to create. Then I went to the craft room to get the clay I needed. I filled up a bucket with warm water and put some of the clay in the bucket. I then mushed it around until it got soft. the only thing is I didn't have enough clay so I have to wait for more.
The clay was a pain to work with.
Here are my Line and Color elevations!

Here is what I decided to do with the grapes
Here is my finished appliance!
Started with getting rid of my eyebrows.

Obstacles and Observations: Something that I didn’t anticipate while planning out the making of the prosthetic. The clay was a pain to work with because you first had to make it soft, so you can work with it and mine ended up way too soft, so I had to use another day to make it possible to work with. After I molded the wrinkles, I then had to wait for them to dry which took a day and I then I needed 15 layers of latex over the wrinkles to make the actual prosthetic. After that Sue told me to paint before I take the prosthetic off which I didn’t expect. After the paint had dried, as I was taking off the prosthetic and the paint kept on crumbling off. Sue told me next time don’t paint so heavy over the latex. Then I moved on to the next prosthetic which was a pain because the clay crumbled off of the face mold that I used. I also realized while making the grapes I decided to make them bigger, so the detail was easier to put on. On November 27, 2018 I got to do the whole face for the first time. I started by getting rid of my eyebrows but next time I do that I am going in with white cream base then I will go over with the brown. Then I put on the white as a base and then I mixed the brown. For the brown I used the primary colors. Then I put the brown on for the brown base. After that I put in the pink on the bulldog chin. Then I started with the wrinkles. Next time I do the wrinkles I am going to not make them a straight line because no bulldog has straight wrinkles. After the wrinkles I did the grapes which ended up looking really nice. I then went in with the black around the eyes and the mouth. The only thing is I won’t put black on my top lip because that is where the spirit glue will go. Then I went in with the latex appliance. Next time I go in with the appliance I want to mark down where the spirit glue will go because I missed a few places. After that I cleaned up the appliance and then I was finished.
SIDE NOTE: I didn’t get to make the second appliance because I ran out of time and my clay got too dry for me to work with. I am also going to take the makeup down to my jaw because it will give a better affect.
I love your design! So excited to see it come to life on your face. The wrinkles are so cool!
